Learn to Fly Fish – WAIT LIST ONLY

THE FLY FISHING CLASS HAS FILLED.  58 members registered within the first 18 hours, so the waiting list is quite extensive.  As a result the registration form has been removed. Those registrants on the wait list will be notified via email shortly.

We will try our best to arrange additional sessions later in the Rally.

Hey, Airstreamers!  Imagine yourself standing in a mountains stream or on the bank of a lake, taking in the beauty and oh, right, fishing.

Fly fishing is an increasingly popular activity because it blends science, sport, recreation, nature, art, crafts, and some pure dumb luck.  It’s “being in nature, with a purpose” and will take you to some of the most spectacular places in or out of the country.

If you have wanted to learn to fly fish but didn’t want to invest in a lot of equipment before knowing if you would enjoy it, this is a great opportunity to learn the basics.

Professional guides and fly-tyers Ilene Hirsh and Shelly Overall will introduce you to knot tying, what flies to use, reading the water, and casting.  Ilene and Shelly are patient fly fishing instructors with experience in teaching beginners.  ALL EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.  If you have your own equipment, feel free to bring it.

We are offering two classes from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Monday 6/25 and Tuesday 6/26 at the Jackman Long Building Conference Room.  Enrollment is limited to 10 participants and you need to pre-register using the form below. THERE IS NO COST TO PARTICIPANTS. You must be over 18. No ID required.  Please bring water, a snack, and a chair.
